In One Sentence What Is Cowspiracy About?

Animal agriculture is the leading cause of environmental damage, but government and big business don’t want the public to know.

Brief Synopsis

Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret, follows filmmaker Kip Andersen (maker of What The Health) who firmly believed that by recycling, saving water and using greener forms of transport, he could help prevent global warming. However, on uncovering the little known fact that animal agriculture causes more greenhouse gas emissions (and a host of other environmental problems) than all forms of transportation combined, he sets out on a quest to find out why nothing is being done to tackle the issue.

What he uncovers is truly shocking. Lobbyists from the meat and dairy industries are dictating federal policy and silencing both government and leading environmental groups.

The Trailer

Why Is Cowspiracy A Vegan Documentary?

It’s not often, if ever, one sees a filmmaker struggle with the idea of completing their film and fearful of what may happen if they do. This alone highlights the size of the conspiracy to cover up how the planet is being degraded by the meat and dairy industries. There’s something amusing yet horrifying about seeing so-called experts and government officials stopped in their tracks by information they were unaware of or are reluctant to talk about.

The wellbeing of our planet and our personal health is being compromised so that big business can continue to make huge profits, which should be enough in itself to provide the inspiration needed to switch to a plant-based diet. We’re effectively being lied to. Effectively.

On a more positive note, Cowspiracy highlights how one can make a difference and a statement by becoming vegan- a lifestyle Kip himself chooses to adopt. In fact, if the issues raised by the film are accurate, then only if humans decide to no longer consume animal-based foods on such a vast scale, can our planet survive.
